Schema Markup Generator

Fill in a short form and get valid JSON-LD structured data for FAQ, article, product, business, organization or breadcrumb pages.

Give search engines structured facts about your page

Structured data is a block of code, usually written in JSON-LD, that describes what a page is about in a format search engines can read without guessing. It can tell Google that a page is an article with a named author, a product with a price and rating, a local business with an address and opening hours, or a list of questions and answers. When a page qualifies, that information can help it appear with enhanced results in search.

Writing JSON-LD by hand is fiddly: one missing comma or quotation mark and the whole block is invalid. This generator builds it from a simple form. Choose a type, fill in the details, and it produces correctly formatted markup wrapped in the script tag you paste into your page. Fields marked with an asterisk are required for that type, and empty optional fields are left out so you never publish blank properties.

Supported types

  • FAQ page: questions and answers shown on the page.
  • Article: blog posts and news-style articles.
  • Product: name, price, availability and optional rating.
  • Local business: address, phone, hours and a business sub-type.
  • Organization: your brand, logo and social profiles.
  • Breadcrumbs: the trail that shows where a page sits in your site.

How to use the Schema Markup Generator

  1. Pick the schema type that matches the page.
  2. Fill in the fields. Required ones are marked with an asterisk.
  3. Press Generate JSON-LD.
  4. Copy the code and paste it into your page’s HTML, in the head or body.
  5. Open Test with Google and check the live page URL for errors and warnings.

What you get

  • Six common schema types with only the fields that matter.
  • Repeatable fields for FAQ questions and breadcrumb levels.
  • Empty optional fields are removed automatically.
  • Output is wrapped in a ready-to-paste script tag, with a .json download as well.
  • Direct links to Google’s Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator.

When it comes in handy

  • Adding article markup to a blog template.
  • Marking up product pages in a small online shop.
  • Helping a local business show consistent address and hours information.
  • Describing an organization and its social profiles on a home page.
  • Adding breadcrumb markup to category and product pages.

Be honest about what the markup says

Structured data must match what visitors can actually see on the page. Do not mark up reviews you did not collect or prices that are not shown. Search engines can ignore or penalise misleading markup. Also note that Google decides which rich results it shows. FAQ rich results, for example, are now limited to well-known government and health sites, although the markup can still describe your page. Always check Google’s current documentation for the type you use.

Tips for better results

  • Generate markup for the main content of the page only, and keep it in sync when the content changes.
  • Use absolute URLs, including https://, for images and links.
  • Use ISO dates such as 2026-11-05 for publication and modification dates.
  • Test every template once with the Rich Results Test before rolling it out to many pages.
  • Only add ratings to a product if you have genuine reviews that visitors can read.

Frequently asked questions

What is JSON-LD?

JSON-LD is a way of writing structured data as a small block of JSON inside a script tag. It is the format Google recommends because it sits apart from your visible HTML.

Where do I paste the generated code?

Paste it into the HTML of the page it describes, anywhere in the head or body. On WordPress and similar systems, use a header and footer plugin or the theme’s custom code area.

Will schema markup improve my rankings?

Structured data is not a direct ranking factor. It helps search engines understand your content and can make a page eligible for enhanced results, which may improve click-through.

Why did Google ignore my FAQ markup?

Google now shows FAQ rich results only for a limited set of authoritative sites. The markup is still valid and can help describe the page, but a visible rich result is not guaranteed.

How do I test my markup?

Use Google’s Rich Results Test or the Schema.org validator, both linked under the generated code. Test the live page address or paste the code in.

Can I add more properties than the form offers?

Yes. Copy the generated code and add extra properties by hand. Check the Schema.org documentation for the type you are using.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The code is generated in your browser and nothing you type is stored.
